Common Questions

Am I appropriate for women's or men's health physical therapy?
  • Take our health quiz to determine if physical therapy can help you.  Health Questionnaire
Do I need a prescription to receive physical therapy services?
  • In the state of Texas, a physical therapist can not deliver treatment without a prescription from a physician, dentist, chiropractor, podiatrists physician assistant, and/or advanced nurse practitioner. You may have your health care practitioner's office fax a prescription to our clinic prior to your appointment or you may bring it with you on the day of your first appointment. If your healthcare provider needs more information, please contact our office and we will send them an informational packet about our clinic and women's and men's health physical therapy.
What should I expect during my first visit?
  • You will be greeted by our Patient Care Coordinator who will review your paperwork. You will then meet with your physical therapist who will gather information about your diagnoses through questioning and measurements. You will receive treatment, education on your diagnosis and a customized exercise program for you to perform at home.
What should I bring to my first physical therapy appointment?
  • You will need to bring your doctor's prescription for physical therapy, your insurance card, your date book for scheduling, and loose comfortable clothing.
How long does a physical therapy session last?
  • Each physical therapy session will be about 45 to 60 minutes with the same physical therapist. This includes your initial evaluation and every treatment session that follows.
How many physical therapy sessions will I need?
  • This depends on your diagnosis. Usually patients are seen 1 to 2 times a week for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks your physical therapist and you will re-evaluate progress and determine a plan of action.
What if I live out of town?
  • The practice of Women’s and Men’s Health Physical Therapy continues to grow.  However, many patients do not have access to physical therapists who specialize in evaluating and treating these diagnoses.  Sullivan Physical Therapy offers individualized treatment options for those patients who need to come from out of town for physical therapy.  Please see our page about Out of Town patients.
Do you have a cancellation or no show policy?
  • We strive to provide each patient with the highest quality of care while attempting to accommodate their schedule. Therefore, we provide reserved appointment slots for each patient. Your consistent attendance of the planned treatment regimen is paramount to your full recovery. If you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment, we respectfully request that you notify us no later than 24 hours before your appointment time. If you cancel your appointment with less than a 24 hour notice or do not show up at all, you will be billed a fee of $50 for each appointment missed.
